Welcome To Our Club
Vice-President Kim Smith leads the group in the Pledge of Allegiance
A Welcome...NEWS FLASH!..ELECTIONS WERE HELD...and we have a new slate of 2011-2012 Officers! NEWSFLASH!
Welcome to the website of the Aktion Club of One Vision of High Point. We are a proud member of the Kiwanis Family. We received our charter in 2009. Our group is made up of two separate self-advocate groups. "Common Vision" out of High Point, North Carolina and "One Voice" out of Greensboro, North Carolina. We found that we shared common interests and felt that our vision and voice would be even stronger as an Aktion Club! We have over 30 members in our group and we are always looking for new members.
About This Website...
Here you will find a "virtual" scrapbook of our projects, you could even say that this webpage is a project in itself. There is a topics page where issues like employment, housing, and healthcare are laid out and a comment form is available. There are links to other websites that are of interest to self-advocates, but first check out our Projects! If you have any questions about our website,or would like to attend one of our meetings, Click here for our contact information.
OUR PROJECTS!What makes us an "Aktion Club" is not just our name, but it's what we do. We take an active part in our community. As part of the Kiwanis family, we participate in a number of service-oriented projects.
| Adopt -A- Highway, this has been one of our longest running projects. We have participated in "Adopt-A-Highway" since 2006. When we were called "Common Vision," and we were not part of the Kiwanis Family. We designate certain times of the year, and then we "clean up!" You can catch us along North Main in High Point on certain Saturdays. |

Krispy Kreme Donuts Fundraiser. We raised over $300 and
sold cards that people could use to buy delicious donuts. Our past-treasurer,
Danny, was in charge of our Krispy Kreme fundraiser. The money we made
from this fundraiser was used to host a party for theSalvation Army

Help A Local Food Bank. In our two years as an Aktion Club,
member Chris, suggested we donate canned goods to a local food bank.
Chris took it upon himself to contact local food bank, Macedonia Food Bank.
We have not discussed this project this year, but we may do so in a future meeting. |
| This December our members are taking UNICEF boxes to collect
change for vaccines for children in other countries. They are due no later
that Dec. 31st. No amount of change is too small.
